Saga #13
"THE SMASH-HIT, CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SERIES RETURNS!
Now that you've read the first two bestselling collections of SAGA, you're all caught up and ready to jump on the ongoing train with Chapter Thirteen, beginning an all-new monthly sci-fi/fantasy adventure, as Hazel and her parents head to the planet Quietus in search of cult romance novelist D. Oswald Heist."
Saga is at the top of my read pile each week it is out, and in August it returns with #13 after a 3 month break. After issue 12 focusing on the TV Head Prince we return to the lives of the two main characters and their child. With the prince and several other characters now after them and after the cliffhanger ending of the previous issue we can see how everything is currently going for this somewhat complicated family!
Jupiters Legacy #3
"The heroes conspire to overthrow The Utopian, discontent rumbling in the bars and the clubs where the superheroes get wasted and complain how much he's been holding them all back with his old-fashioned ideas of power and responsibility. There's a new world out there if they will only grasp it. But what is his daughter's secret and how will it change things forever for their family?"
The second issue is not out until next month but the first issue did a good job of setting up this series. Mark Millar has really been pushing his creator owned series' but from recent times this would appear to one of his stronger titles and with Frank Quitely on art there is a reason to pick it up with the release of each issue. The cover for this issue really opens up a lot of questions and I look forward to finding out the answers come August!
East of West: Volume 1
"This is the world. It is not the one we wanted, but it is the one we deserved. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the Earth, signaling the End Times for humanity, and our best hope for life, lies in DEATH.
Collects EAST OF WEST #1 - #5."
From the mastermind that is Jonathan Hickman comes the first volume of his creator owned East of West. This is currently only two issues in and I strongly recommend you pick up the reprints, but if you don't feel like picking up reprints this volume will be a great opportunity for you to pick up this story. Both the art and story have been great so far, and each time I enter my local comic store I hope to see the next issue on the shelf. Issue 3 is out early June, but now I look forward to August for the opportunity to get the first five issues collected in one.
